Wrapping Up Navy Week 2018
June 19, 2018
And just like that, #NavyWeek is a wrap! We appreciated the opportunity to work with Navy Outreach – NAVCO and the sailors who came to Chattanooga last week.
While their schedules were shared so folks could enjoy the many opportunities to hear the U.S. Fleet Forces Band and enjoy time with the divers at the Tennessee Aquarium and the Creative Discovery Museum, few are aware of the projects the sailors participated in while in our community. From volunteering with Habitat for Humanity to painting rooms for Panther Pride and the Chattanooga Housing Authority and helping out at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank, the sailors were everywhere last week.
They brought in some of their pros to interact with Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce and the folks at the Small Business Development Center to assist small businesses in working with the Navy. They also spent some time with some of our area’s best medical professionals at Plastic Surgery Group and Erlanger Health System.

The highlight of the week was the opportunity to pay respect to a local hero, one of the few survivors of the USS Indianapolis as he was laid to rest.
They were featured speakers at Kiwanis Club of Chattanooga, Chattanooga Civitan, The Rotary Club of Chattanooga Hamilton Place and Chattanooga Downtown Rotary Club.
We are grateful for the wonderful coverage by our media friends. Most importantly, we send a huge shoutout to Riverbend Festival for your support throughout the week and especially to Bret Michaels who closed out a great week!

We want to thank all of the organizations who worked with us throughout all of the 110 events of last week. If you see a sailor or any member of the military, thank them (and their families) for their service. It’s something none of us should take for granted.
